Being Henry - Interactive Movie for Range Rover Evoque
added on Monday, Jun 27, 2011 21:33 pm
Although this is just another one of those expensive online ads, this interactive movie is worth some minutes of your time: You are in control of Henry, who wakes up in the morning, then at certain points throughout his day, you can choose between two possible ways. What makes it worthwhile is the professional cinematography and acting, including some rather funny situations. The overall interaction design is also very good. It‘s especially striking how intuitive selecting one of the ways is, although the camera perspective changes often. You just push Henry into the direction of your choice. Try it out!
Old Fangs animated short

Beware, these 11 minutes are slow, silent and very sad. But also very beautiful. Great mix of media embedded into some tasteful cinematography and art direction.
Thursday animated short by Matthias Hoegg

I am reluctant to call this a short movie. So much story, warmth and clever ideas were put into these seven minutes, it would make any full-blown Hollywood blockbuster proud. Let's call it a sci-fi love story without words, but some deeper questions. For example: Why do all humans have these orange noses?
Adidas France - 3D Mapping Projection

Ok, it's rather boring expensive brand marketing, but the effects of this 3D projection are very well done. I love the initial breakdown an the light effects in the second half.
Christmas Food Court Flash Mob
added on Friday, Dec 10, 2010 9:33 am
A flash mob video is not what I typically feel like posting here. But this one is an exception and shows a special kind of poetry: A choir sings the Hallelujah chorus in a shopping mall food court full of christmas shoppers. Christmas is near!

Three and a Half Seconds About Life by Eran Hilleli

Sweet sweet animated clips of only 3.5 seconds each. A bit dark, because – despite of the title – it only shows various deaths of birds. But it‘s executed in such a minimal and elegant style, that it‘s a pleasure to watch. The sound design supports it perfectly.

BIG BAG BIG BOOM – wall-painted animation
added on Tuesday, Jul 06, 2010 9:31 am
This must have been lots and lots of work: Wall-painted stop-motion animated graffitti by BLU. Wonderfully quirky, dirty and full of neat ideas. Nearly ten minutes of floating, jumping, evolving, growing and exploding paint on various surfaces.

Killer music video made by programming an 1979 Apple ][+ computer. Pure and simple lo-fi ASCII animations that fit the wonderful song very well. Check out the cursor blinking in sync with the synthesizer rythm.
That stedio has some more very interesting conceptual work. Check the website!

Sean Stiegemeier went to Iceland and took some time-lapse shots from and around Eyjafjallajökull. Gorgeous. (And on a side-note: How can it be this guy still has no sponsor? Look at the view stats on the vimeo page! Over half a million views! Seriously.)

It looks like a giant alien spacecraft, but it‘s a fractal structure, generated by a mathematics algorithm. The light, shadow and the red haze is rendered. Watching in HD recommended!
