Lights – Interactive Music Video

Another one of those interactive music videos, we might be talking about a new form of art soon. This time it is a poppy electro anthem by Ellie Goulding that gets a OpenGL driven 3D visualization. You steer through an colorful abstract environment that adapts to the tune. The interaction is not very deep, but still an intoxication experience. Reminded me a lot of some designs by Universal Everything though.

Very unusual piece of 2D animation. Takes some getting used to, but then it‘s hypnotizing. By Carolina Melis, music is Polygene by Efterklang.

This is what music videos look these days. Shot with a DSLR, lots of funky editing, post-production and effects. But all this done in a very tasteful and somehow modest way. It has a lot of style, but is also dark, sweaty and eerie. Extraordinary.

Killer music video made by programming an 1979 Apple ][+ computer. Pure and simple lo-fi ASCII animations that fit the wonderful song very well. Check out the cursor blinking in sync with the synthesizer rythm.
That stedio has some more very interesting conceptual work. Check the website!

Ok, there are already heaps of creative music videos these days. Here is another one that really shines, with visibly lots of work and love put into: While singing and playing, the band (and seemingly many friends) re-enact world-famous paintings here. Which generates a series of good laughs throughout the 3:19 minutes.

I did not know this guy yet, but he seems to have some goofy style and up-beat feel-good rhythms. And this music video by Ace Norton fits in absolutely brilliantly. Lots of funky weirdo mad-professor inventions are shown, matching the flow of the track spot on. This one made me grin for 3:18.

By Renaud Hallée, such a simple yet beautiful animation! How awesome that it‘s done with “Basic keyframe animation using flash, without scripting.”
