Geometry Daily

added on Sunday, Jan 01, 2012 20:10 pm

I start something new today.

In 2012, I‘m going to channel my enthusiasm for simple graphics in a new on-going personal design project. Starting today I will publish a new graphic artwork each and every day. Each piece will be based on simple geometric shapes and composed in a rather minimal style. I set up a new tumble log dedicated to this project. It‘s called Geometry Daily, the URL is geometrydaily.tumblr.com.

Let‘s see where this will take us and how long I can hold that up! I‘m excited. See you over there. ¬ Comments

Wacom Inkling – My hands-on experiences

added on Monday, Oct 24, 2011 23:02 pm

I had my Wacom Inkling delivered three days ago. It is an awesome piece of technology, blurring the line between analog and digital drawing. Still it is far from being perfect. A lot of people already asked me about it, so here are my real-life hands-on experiences. ¬ Full Entry

Taking One Year Off

added on Friday, Sep 09, 2011 14:50 pm

Dear world, I would like to let you know: I take the next year off. I will be staying away from agency work at the Warriors from September 2011 to August 2012. Instead, I will be taking care of our two wonderful kids (2 1/2 and nearly a year old). Twelve months of full-time Dad duties! ¬ Full Entry

Advent calendar 2010

added on Saturday, Dec 04, 2010 22:20 pm

It became a family tradition that in the days before December 1 I get busy at my desk and create a little advent calendar for my wife. (BTW, here are the editions of 2009 and 2008). It always feels got to do something with my hands, non-digitally.

This year I ordered a bunch of little cardboard boxes from Kartonfritze.de, painted or stamped them with acrylics and stacked them to a little tower. Finally, a little christmas-y decoration here and there. Some more detail shots here: ¬ Full Entry

9 Eyes – Google Streetview oddities

added on Thursday, Nov 25, 2010 14:14 pm

A lot of funny, sad and strange things happened exactly at that moment the Google Streetview car drove by and shot the scenery. Jon Rafman collects them in his tumblr at http://9eyes.tumblr.com. Parties, children, razzias, accidents and some nudity. Some not for the faint of heart, but there surely is some everyday poetry behind these terabytes of data on Google‘s servers.

It's just a phone

added on Thursday, Jul 01, 2010 23:21 pm

Today there where some rumors again of Steve Jobs answering mails from iPhone users. Be them fake or not, I like Mr Job‘s attitude when he finishes a heated conversation about signal strength with these words:

“retire, relax, enjoy your family. It is just a phone. Not worth it.”

These are the most sane words I heard this week. That‘s why I celebrate them with a custom-made iPhone wallpaper: Download here. This puts things in perspective when the next “Oooooh, is this the new iPhone 4?” comes along. It‘s just a phone!

ps.: Of course I made this with a resolution fit for the retina display: 640 × 960 pixels. ¬ Comments

Family member #4 on the way

added on Wednesday, Apr 28, 2010 18:09 pm

The last time I posted one of those blurry black and white images like the one above is is not even two years ago. And today already here is a new one: We could not be any happier and more proud to announce that the fourth member of our little family is already on the way! We are going to get another baby, presumably around September 24. And this time it‘s a boy! The future looks bright, dear readers!

The process of finding a name has already started…

Linn portraits with Hipstamatic on the iPhone

added on Tuesday, Apr 06, 2010 21:03 pm

The Hipstamatic iPhone photography app I bought today is lots and lots of fun! It processes the images taken by the rather low-tech camera simulating old analog cheap cameras. The photos are blurred, color-shifted and framed in a convincing vintage look. And the app design is also enjoyable, although it sets the focus on “toy”, rather than “photography”. ¬ Full Entry

What I do/don't do

First I admit that this is heavily inspired by works of others. Venn diagrams and storytelling by infographics is popular these days. Here is my take, dealing with aims and constraints. ¬ Full Entry
