Geometry Daily

added on Sunday, Jan 01, 2012 20:10 pm

I start something new today.

In 2012, I‘m going to channel my enthusiasm for simple graphics in a new on-going personal design project. Starting today I will publish a new graphic artwork each and every day. Each piece will be based on simple geometric shapes and composed in a rather minimal style. I set up a new tumble log dedicated to this project. It‘s called Geometry Daily, the URL is geometrydaily.tumblr.com.

Let‘s see where this will take us and how long I can hold that up! I‘m excited. See you over there. ¬ Comments

Misericordia

added on Wednesday, Dec 08, 2010 13:16 pm

This is a sign I created for a local project for young adult christians. The project is about putting our faith in God into practice by helping needy people in our home town.

That is a very honorable task with a long tradition. So I created a coat of arms, but in a very modern and graphic way. The symbols depict the values of the project: Doing good with our hands (top left), rooted in Christ (the vineyard in the lower right). ¬ Full Entry

It's just a phone

added on Thursday, Jul 01, 2010 23:21 pm

Today there where some rumors again of Steve Jobs answering mails from iPhone users. Be them fake or not, I like Mr Job‘s attitude when he finishes a heated conversation about signal strength with these words:

“retire, relax, enjoy your family. It is just a phone. Not worth it.”

These are the most sane words I heard this week. That‘s why I celebrate them with a custom-made iPhone wallpaper: Download here. This puts things in perspective when the next “Oooooh, is this the new iPhone 4?” comes along. It‘s just a phone!

ps.: Of course I made this with a resolution fit for the retina display: 640 × 960 pixels. ¬ Comments

Fractures

added on Wednesday, Oct 21, 2009 21:10 pm

Four more fracture graphics. Two of them are published in the Warrior‘s new issue number 3 of Licht magazine. This also means: I‘m back in business after my two months off with the family!

Unfortunately my new website is currently spread in pieces all over the place. Some parts work already, but the front end still needs lots of love. Let‘s see when I can get back to it, now that my day job and university teaching have started… ¬ Full Entry

Cloud Fracture

added on Thursday, Aug 07, 2008 21:48 pm

Please excuse that I will start to post images without long explanations. I hate to write superfluous comments like “I just made this” and “On this image, you see some grey and green”. If not stated otherwise all the content here is my work and whether or not it serves any purpose, I find it beautiful enough to show it to you! I’m glad we got this out of the way…

Maybe sometimes I might add a note like this: Grab the desktop wallpaper ¬ Full Entry

Dragon Curve SIGG Bottles

added on Saturday, Jul 12, 2008 15:02 pm

I am still busy putting all my work online that I am proud of. Here is another piece from 2006. Like the 1up mugs this was also a christmas present we gave away to our clients. It was a range of printed metal outdoor bottles produced by the well-known Swiss brand SIGG. ¬ Full Entry

Praxis der Medizin

added on Friday, Mar 28, 2008 11:08 am

This magazine was published last week by Naumann & Kollegen, a tax and law consultant in Nuremberg and long-time client. It contains financial and legal topics directed at doctors in private practice. I created the visual concept at the Warriors and did the layout of the 20 pages. ¬ Full Entry

Bird Tree

added on Thursday, Mar 20, 2008 22:39 pm

Fineliner drawing on canvas for Otto, a friend of mine. It’s just lots and lots of rectangular spirals, drawn by hand. A very repetitive task, but surprisingly satisfying. To top it off, I stencil-sprayed three yellow birds on the pattern, to give it some weighted centers. Click for the full image and details. ¬ Full Entry

Light 2 Cover Poster

added on Thursday, Nov 01, 2007 19:16 pm

This poster artwork is my contribution to the second issue of Light, the magazine the Warriors publish on an irregular basis. Folded up it was the cover of half of the run. For the other half the poster was folded the other way round, with the other side out showing an (excellent) artwork by Martin Mller.

Free give-away: I give away the last five copies for free. If you are interested, please write your post address to me and the first five will get one issue of Light 2 by mail, including this and 27 other artworks.

UPDATE: The Lights are gone and on their way to their new homes…
