One visual idea I cannot get enough of for years now is the juxtaposition of nature and abstraction. A perfect example for that contrast is this series of photographies by David Maisel. At first it seems to be an abstract painting, but looking closer you see that these are tree logs in a frozen lake, from a bird's eye view.
