“Are you able to work with computers?” is the subline of this shockwave game, a semester project from my studies at the University of Applied Sciences.

It starts with a bright desktop with familiar icons and windows. But also familiar something beyond the surface breaks, the system crashes. From now on, you are confronted with five screens of dark madness, filled with a nightmarish mess of user interface elements. Can you make it through, find the secrets behind the screens and restore normality again?

Although this work is from the year 2000 and graphical user interfaces have seen enormous improvements in the last years, still this ironic comment on computer interfaces is still not entirely obsolete. Only the design will remind you of the old Mac OS 9 days…

This was a weekly feature on the great web design portal K10k in 2000. Oh, it’s still in the Most popular list!

There is also a post about this game with lots of comments on Jay Is Games.
