Website for the law and tax consultancy Naumann & Associates

Just 36 steps from my Warrior desk Peter Naumann works as a lawyer and tax consultant at “Naumann & Kollegen”. Not at all a boring number-pusher he is an interesting and pleasant conversation partner with wide interest and engagement in art and culture. His office, a brightly lit open space is spotted with tastefully arranged art objects. When he came to us and asked for a website concept for his company, I knew that this has to work seriously as an informative and confidence-building site about a consultancy, but also needs to be a reflection of the employees’ personality and character.

After the first drafts it became clear that Mr Naumann and I share the same goals and this design job (although paid) will be a joy to work on. It turned out to be a mid-sized set of individually arranged and fine-tuned pages committed to the classic arts of book typography and layout, accompanied by the excellent and calm photographies of Stephan Minx.

The site’s specialty, setting it subtly apart: On the transition between two pages the layout melts away into random-driven layers of colorfully texturized rectangular shapes, rapidly rearranging into the targeted content page. You get the feeling that the static layout is just the surface of a deeper graphical structure through the seams of which you get a short glimpse on your journey between the sections. (The screenshot above shows a brief moment in an example transition.) It’s an effect that lasts only fractions of a second and so does not interrupt the flow through the site, but still makes a distinct point.
