Dragon Curve SIGG Bottles

added on Saturday, Jul 12, 2008 15:02 pm

Here is another piece from 2006. Like the 1up mugs this was also a christmas present we gave away to our clients. It was a range of metal outdoor bottles of the well-known Swiss brand SIGG.

An intricate pattern of lines was printed with glossy finish on matte black aluminum bottles. The line is a dragon curve, a self-similar fractal, approximated by a recursive method. To spice it up there were ten slightly different designs with the lines laid out differently. (The Flash tool I created for this led me to the Light 2 poster design later on.)

I also created a card with seasons greetings and a matching poster. The poster has a big white-on-black dragon curve on one side (pictured above) and step-by-step illustration of the curve method on the other (below). The poster was folded up to fit in the special black cardboard box together with the bottle.
